Dr Jinna Yao

Dr Jinna Yao is an Australian trained urological surgeon committed to exceptional and personalised care of patients with diseases of the kidney, bladder, adrenal glands and prostate.
Dr Jinna Yao is a Consultant Urologist and Transplant Surgeon at Westmead Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.
She believes in delivering dedicated and compassionate service to patients using safe and cutting-edge techniques.
Dr Yao graduated with Honours at the University of New South Wales School of Medicine in 2008, and obtained a Master of Surgery at the University of Sydney in 2014. She underwent a six year Advanced Surgical Training for Urology in New South Wales and was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019.
To further refine her surgical skills, she went on to complete her post-fellowship training in kidney and pancreas transplantation at Westmead Hospital where she gained skills in complex open and laparoscopic kidney surgery. Dr Yao then completed a robotic urological oncology fellowship at Macquarie University Hospital where she underwent rigorous training in robotic surgery for kidney, bladder and prostate cancers.
Dr Yao is the Supervisor of Training for Urological Surgeons in Training at Westmead Hospital, and is responsible for maintaining a standard of quality of graduating urological surgeons. She combines her clinical work with research, and has authored multiple peer reviewed publications.
Dr Yao is an invited speaker and chair person at local and international conferences such as the Australasian Prostate Cancer Conference, Surgical Robotics and Innovation Summit, and Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand. She is also credited with speaking at many peer-reviewed local and international conferences, including the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, American Urological Association, European Association of Urology, World Congress of Endourology and the World Transplant Congress.
Dr Yao prioritises best practice and believes in always acting in the patient’s best interests.
